Nayagarh,(Baghuabarta): India could become a permanent member of the UNSC. The United States has agreed to increase the number of permanent and temporary members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). India had earlier held talks with the United States on the issue of reform at the UNSC. “After India took over the chairmanship of the United Nations Security Council in August, the United States was interested in working with India at the UNSC,” it said. The United States has said in a statement that the United Nations Security Assistance Force needs to improve its capabilities. The United States is excited to work with India. “As India and the United States become closer, they will be able to work together on strategies and understanding.” India has long been pushing for a Security Council resolution. The United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, China and France are the five permanent members of the Security Council. In addition, there are 10 member states. The Security Council requested that in addition to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s ongoing inspections in Iran, that it monitor Iran’s compliance with “the steps required by the IAEA Board”. All permanent member states have the power to reject any proposal instead of its own veto power.
