Nayagarh,(Baghuabarta): Following the July 31 command-level talks between India and China, both countries have taken major steps towards peace. The two countries have agreed to withdraw troops from the Gogra area of Ladakh. Earlier, China withdrew from the north and south of Pangang Lake. Indian and Chinese troops have been at loggerheads in many parts of eastern Ladakh since April last year, and the situation escalated in June. A statement from the Indian Army said, “Under the terms of the agreement, the LAC will be closely monitored and the two sides will respect it.” The two countries are committed to advancing talks and resolving other issues in the western part of the LSR. The statement said the Indian Army and the ITBP were committed to maintaining the country’s sovereignty and peace in the LAC. The two countries have held 12 rounds of talks in more than three months. Once again, after a meeting between the Indian and Chinese foreign ministers, it was announced that all issues of peace would be resolved. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jayashankar and his counterpart said the situation in East Ladakh was having a negative impact on bilateral relations. The two foreign ministers held an hour-long meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on July 14.
